Brooke & Cameron’s Romantic Summer Wedding at Blue Heron Barn in Kalamazoo
Brooke and Cameron’s wedding day at Blue Heron Barn in Kalamazoo, Michigan was nothing short of incredible. If I’m being honest, I truly could not have asked for a sweeter couple. From the moment we connected, it was clear they weren’t just dream clients—they’re genuinely amazing people who have become dear friends. Their love, their energy, and their kindness just radiated throughout the entire day, and it was such a joy to be a part of it all.
Their family and friends? Just as kind, welcoming, and warm as they are. Being surrounded by so many wonderful people made the entire day feel even more meaningful. You could tell how deeply loved and supported Brooke and Cameron are.
Every detail of their wedding day was so carefully thought out and beautifully done. From the florals to the ceremony setup to the little sentimental touches, it was truly a celebration filled with heart. One of my favorite things? Brooke’s flower girls tossed dried petals from past bouquets Cameron had given her over their seven years together—how sweet and symbolic is that?
The ceremony took place in front of a backdrop of lush hydrangeas and blue pottery, with a river gently running behind them. It was such a romantic setting, and even though the forecast called for rain (and yes, it did rain!), the weather couldn’t dampen the spirit of the day. If anything, it added a little extra magic. Brooke and Cameron embraced it with joy, proving that rain really is good luck on your wedding day.
Blue Heron Barn itself is such a gem in Southwest Michigan. Not only is it gorgeous with its mix of rustic charm and elegance, but the owners are also some of the most kind-hearted, helpful people I’ve worked with. From the communication beforehand to how they supported the couple and vendors throughout the day, it was a 10/10 experience. Even the bartenders and staff were so thoughtful and amazing.
A few other favorite parts of the day:
Brooke and her girls started the morning dancing and singing, setting the tone for such a fun, joy-filled day.
Their first touch and prayer was an emotional, intimate moment that I’m so honored to have captured.
After the ceremony, we took portraits under a giant tree strung with glowing lights. Even though part of it had recently been lost in a storm, it still stood strong and beautiful—just like their love story.
The food! They had a pizza truck with a wood-fired oven serving the most delicious custom pizzas, followed by a full donut bar and a cozy outdoor fire pit with all the s’mores toppings you could imagine. It was such a fun, laid-back way to celebrate with guests.
And of course, the night ended with everyone on the dance floor, under the lights, laughing and dancing and celebrating these two beautiful humans. I left with a full heart and so much gratitude.
Brooke & Cameron—thank you for trusting me to photograph your wedding day. I’ll never forget it.
P.S. Can’t get enough of these two?
